British Orchard Nursery introduces Mandarin as an additional language to its EYFS curriculum!

This move will help improve early language development and opportunities for students as the UAE paves way for strong international relations with China.

British Orchard Nursery (BON) has added another feather to its hat – this time by introducing Mandarin as an additional language to its EYFS curriculum.

Students will now have the chance to learn this powerful language that has been introduced as an integral part of BON’s linguistics pool across its branches in the UAE, in addition to the ongoing lessons in Arabic, French, special Islamic studies and English.

The tiny tots will be exposed to this language by highly trained teachers who will dedicate extra time and effort to ensure that the kids grasp the right accent and pronunciation all in a fun and creative manner – which truly is the motto that BON abides by.

This development at BON comes as a result of increasing strong and strategic trade ties between the UAE and China as both nations look forward to a future of friendship, working together and supporting common goals for the betterment of their citizens and residents.

Dr Vandana Gandhi, Founder & CEO at British Orchard Nursery, said: “According to the results of a study undertaken by York University in Canada, bilingual children’s knowledge of a second language gives them an advantage in learning to read. Furthermore, numerous other reports suggest that exposure to different languages inculcates positive attitudes in children to the cultures associated with the language and introduces them to the world in ways, they might otherwise not have experienced.
“Hence, it’s important for children to start young especially because very young children are quick learners and pick up a new language easily,” added Dr. Gandhi.

Moreover, the perks of learning a second language also extend into many other aspects including brain development that helps the child with a better attention span and task-switching capacities as they grow up. Eventually, their brain learns to be more adaptable to new situations and environments – which can also help them in their careers moving forward.

Commenting further Dr. Gandhi added: “At BON we always try to up the ante and ensure students constantly gain value from our programs. I am confident that students will enjoy learning this new language and it will be nothing less than an asset especially since both nations are paving way for strong international relations in the future.”

BON has also created a one-off it’s kind and unique Baseline Assessment Book in line with the EYFS framework, that comprises 680 assessment points on which each child is rigorously assessed and reviewed by the BON staff over three years to ensure they tick all the Early Learning Goals boxes. Additionally, their dedicated team also takes special efforts in developing personalized and individual plans for special and gifted children – all in line with the EYFS curriculum which speaks volumes about the time and attention their team gives to each student.
