Dear Parents,

Welcome to the student screening and monitoring program at BON. The early years of your child’s education are highly crucial for their long-term learning and holistic development. We at British Orchard Nursery are the only and best nursery in Dubai to introduce the Ages & Stages Questionnaires®, Third Edition (ASQ-3™), to help you keep track of your child’s growth with us.

A questionnaire will be completed by your child’s class teacher bi-annually. The first screening takes place 6 weeks after your child’s registration with BON and a questionnaire will be provided to all parents as well to record their child’s progress highlighting their strengths, advancements, or any areas of concern, and determine if there are resources or services that may be useful for your child or family.

Below is a brief description of the five developmental areas screened with ASQ-3.

Communication: This includes your child’s progress in language skills, both understanding and speech at our nursery.

Gross motor: How your child uses his or her arms and legs and other large muscles for sitting, crawling, walking, running, and other activities will be recorded in this section.

Fine motor: Your child’s hand, eye and finger movements and coordination’s come under this section.

Problem solving: Records how the child plays and solves problems in real-time.

Personal-social: Your child’s self-help skills and interactions with others are included in this.

If the questionnaire analysis states that your child is developing without concerns, we will continue to encourage his/her development and will provide the next questionnaire at the appropriate time.

If the questionnaire shows some possible concerns, we will contact you about how we can further support your child and promote their development. It may be that we will provide some activities designed for use with ASQ-3 to promote development at nursery and at home. Information will only be shared with other agencies with your consent.
