Dear Mommies,
We all know that it is not easy to stay 24/7 at home with children on an empty stomach while fasting!
However, with the e-learning curriculum provided by the BON team, things are getting easier to manage. I am enjoying the time with my children by doing the below recommended activities by BON, that link a host of hidden benefits in everyday activities:
1. Preparing healthy meals: We all know that the Ramadan iftar table is famous for various dishes. It is a tiresome process to prepare these meals painstakingly and can be very stressful if the children are left alone all of this time without supervision. So, why not bring your children along and let them be part of the preparation process? During the process of cooking children learn measurements and sequencing concepts, which is an added bonus! My children help me set up the table and clean it up too!
2. Reading stories with moral: This month is a great time to reinforce good behaviors and enhance kind mannerisms within our children. This activity is a beneficial activity that can be accomplished during your resting or quiet time at home. The best place for my children and I for story time is cuddled on their beds, where we lay together and read along while I highlight on the moral highs of adapting good behavioral traits via story time.
3. Cleaning and arranging the room: Ramadan is the month of giving and helping others. So, find a time with your child to clean their room re-arrange their things while preparing donations to give away for the things that haven’t been used. Through this activity you are enhancing their personal, social and emotional skills while also nurturing their kind hearts with empathy.
4. Physical activity: We all know the importance of physical activity for our health and wellness. Physical movement enhances children’s gross motor skills and developmental growth. During Ramadan, my children and I do some yoga exercises prior to Iftar time to keep us calm throughout this period of fasting and peace.
BON Online’s educational videos along with their e-learning program and online classes are a great benefit for my child by organising his time and keeping him linked to his learning environment and child developmental goals.
Which is why I would like to personally give a HUGE shout out and BIG thank you to the BON team for all their love and support during this time of struggle.
