Dear Mommies,
Working from home with a 15-month-old toddler isn’t easy, but as an anxious mother, I know that it is still essential for her to have social interaction with familiar faces other than what she is getting accustomed to at home i.e our family members.
School classrooms are busy places where my toddler learns all sorts of things, including emoting and enhancing social and communicational skills. As we eased into social distancing and quarantine, I was apprehensive with her communicational skills coming to a halt however the BON Distance Learning Program has been a blessing in disguise for our family. It is beneficial for my daughter because she can socially and visually interact with her friends and teachers, even if it is to babble incomprehensibly and stare at each other for a few minutes and then get distracted and come again!
She has started to recognize her friends and looks forward to her daily interactive sessions with her teachers. Every time, I watch the recognition and happiness on her face whilst meeting her friends and teachers, it provides me with a sense of relief and pride in her understanding of her surroundings and her communicational skills enhancement.
The circle time, flashcards, and nursery rhyme times with BON put such a HUGE smile on her face. It is adorable to watch her trying to rhyme and babble to herself the whole day with every new word she has comprehended and grasped through her learning time.
It’s so important for children to grasp and engage with their peers and teachers. It is extremely important to continue to focus on developmental milestones and growth even during the lockdown and it is comforting, as a parent to know that you have the support of leading experts during this trialing time.
I would like to thank the BON Teachers and Principals for their unbending support, wholehearted love and their hard-work for trying to reinvent and innovative education even when ambushed by barriers.
